Dr. Jordan Tarver
Board Certified Pediatric Dentist
Dr. Tarver knew early in his education that he wanted to work with children and feels privileged to help the pediatric community become lifelong dental patients. He thoroughly enjoys communicating with kids at their level and emphasizes a comfortable experience in the dental environment. Dr. Tarver exhibits a true passion for treating children and constantly shows his enthusiasm for promoting good oral health. He firmly believes that all children should be treated with kindness and compassion as if they were members of his own family.
Dr. Tarver grew up in Lakeland, Florida and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Davidson College. He attended the University of Florida College of Dentistry/Shands Hospital for both dental school and pediatric residency training. Dr. Tarver is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry with extensive training in the use of nitrous oxide, sedation and behavior management. He lives in Lakeland with his wife, Dr. Shea Sammons, (also a UF trained pediatric dentist), and their soft-coated Wheaten Terrier, Riley.
Dr. Tarver maintains active memberships in the following organizations: American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, West Coast District Dental Association, Polk County Dental Association, Tampa Bay Pediatric Dental Association, Pedo Gators.
Dr. Harry E. Bopp
Dr. Bopp was raised in Tampa, Florida and completed his undergraduate education at University of Florida. He then received his D.M.D. degree from University of Louisville and his graduate Pediatric Dentistry training from Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Following his two years of service in the U.S. Army as the clinical director of Children’s Dentistry at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Georgia, he returned to Florida and opened his dental office in Lakeland in 1976.
Dr. Bopp is involved in many dental organizations such as the American Dental Association, The Florida Dental Association and the Polk County Dental Association. He is an accredited member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Orthodontic Society, The Florida Dento-Facial Study Club and the Tampa Bay Pediatric Dental Association. He is a member of the attending staff at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
He has always been a strong advocate for children. He has served on the boards of the YMCA, the Boys and Girls Club and Grasslands Golf Club. He was elected as Secretary-Treasurer, Vice-President and President of the Polk County Dental Association. He began the program of bringing dental education to elementary school children in 1977 and our dental educator, Teri Farthing, continues the tradition today by instructing over 9000 students in their classrooms per year. His goal is to improve the oral health of the children of Lakeland and Central Florida.
His passions outside of the office include spending time with his family, especially grandchildren; collecting antique cars, travel with his wife and friends, golf with his fellow duffers and the Gator sports.
Dr. Scheps was raised in Richmond, VA, where he received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University. Following dental school, he pursued an additional year of advanced dental training as an officer in the United States Air Force and was then sent overseas. While overseas, he treated many children of Active Duty service members, which is when he discovered that pediatric dentistry was his true passion. He specialized in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Florida, where he was elected to serve as Chief Resident. Dr. Scheps’ goal is to have every child he treats to leave with quality care and a smile, and his patients always look forward to seeing which crazy pair of socks he will be wearing that day!
Dr. Scheps believes in continuous learning, and he maintains active membership in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, University of Florida Pedo Gators, Pinellas County Dental Association, Polk County Dental Association, and Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry.
When he’s not showing off his sock collection to his patients or being a total nerd at an educational conference, Dr. Scheps enjoys traveling and trying new brunch places with his soon-to-be wife, Amy (also a University of Florida trained Pediatric Dentist), and playing hockey.
Dr. Depew grew up in Miami, Florida, and received a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Cell Science and a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Florida. She went on to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at Langley AFB, Virginia. After several years of treating adult patients, she realized that her passion lay in working with children, and she returned to school completing a Pediatric residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She then served several years in Europe, caring for pediatric dependents of US Air Force personnel stationed overseas. She believes that preventative health is key and stresses the role of good oral health as a part of overall health to all her patients. After 12 years in the military she decided to return home to Florida to be closer to her family.
Dr. Depew is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and a member of the Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Outside of the office she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. traveling, participating in escape rooms, and spending time with her ever-growing family of pets.
